Community Curation: Local Partnerships, Fund Development, and Exhibit Design
How can community partners - from businesses and industry facilities to universities - be engaged in the exhibit curation process? How does strong collaboration between exhibition and development departments in this process reinforce the museum's ties to key donors, sponsors, and partners? Presenters in this session will share examples of community partnerships that can support both exhibition development and fund development, and discuss the ways that strong working relationships between a museum's curation/exhibition and development teams can result in engaging, community-oriented, locally-inspired exhibits. Presenters will discuss how this "community curation" strategy can be particularly meaningful for institutions with limited holdings/collections.

Science Storytelling: How Can Community Collaborations Become More Equitable and Inclusive?
Ice Worlds is an NSF-funded media project that has led to the development of culturally appropriate informal science learning experiences for Indigenous youth, as well as new approaches to collaborative environmental storytelling with Native communities. We will share models, evaluation frameworks, clips and insights from these challenging and valuable partnerships.

Design: A New Tool for Accountability
The Exploratorium shares a tool used to center inclusive principles while designing exhibits for the Kiewit Luminarium. Our goal is to equip audience members with an understanding of the tool’s development, implementation, and what we learned through its use. We’ll also prepare you to use this tool at your institution!
