Founded in 1984 by Thomas Luckey with a prestigious project at the Boston Children’s Museum, we have been making iconic climbing sculptures for public spaces ever since. Luckey® Climbers have defined the “platinum standard” for children’s play spaces with visually stunning, dramatic works of art that provide an unparalleled interactive and fun experience for children. Luckey Climbers are the perfect complement to any public space that has a high volume of children and requires an anchor attraction, and in addition the handmade sculptures substantially increase attendance and guest stay time.
Luckey LLC is led by Spencer Luckey, Thomas Luckey’s oldest son. Spencer took over the company following a tragic accident that left the elder Luckey a quadriplegic in 2005, after which he worked closely with his father until his passing in 2012. A graduate of Yale School of Architecture, Spencer chose to forgo a career designing buildings and instead, further his father’s artistic vision of designing and building beautifully whimsical climbing sculptures.
Luckey climbers can be found in prominent institutions and commercial attractions including children’s museums, science centers, shopping malls, municipal parks, and cruise ships, in 17 countries and counting. We credit this success to our visionary designs, attention to detail and impeccable safety record. In addition, the skills children learn on a Luckey climber are at the core of childhood development: agility, balance, strength, flexibility, cooperation, problem solving and most importantly, "imaginative play."
